Goooood morning all! Happy Monday😁. I know Mondays can be .. tiresome and dreadful lol. But I hope that you can find something today, anything, that can bring you some peace of mind. I like to take runs/ walks after work because they allow my mind to rest after a long day. Hbu?

Here is the short clip where I speak on 4C hair and the way folks hate seeing 4C hair that THEY deem “untamed”. Unfortunately, this is just one part of the comments #lipglosssss was receiving.

Gentrification is not only about the removal of peoples homes. It is also about the cultural and communal displacement people endure when they are removed from their homes. This is a conversation that holds many layers and I’m so glad I was able to have it on my podcast.

Many communities in Canada are currently and have been impacted by gentrification but not only that, have had to relocate multiple times because housing is simply not affordable. If one bedroom apartments are $1200, how then do families of 5+ afford a home ???

EverydaySehPodcast (@everydayseh) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Unfortunately, for many immigrants, they are promised a better life in Canada but when they arrive they are relegated to low wage jobs and housing that is subpar and dangerous to live in. This is NOT okay.

The best thing we can do as community members is get to know our neighbours, get to know our neighbourhood and help folks in ways we can. Give families supplies for the winter, give folks money, send folks food or help them with groceries. These are tangible ways to help.

If you want to learn more about this topic, please listen to my most recent episode with my good friend Joyce, who outlined the dangers of gentrification and displacement and their connections to antiblackness and immigration. open.spotify.com/episode/7deZsg…
