Astonishing record of a Violet-green Swallow (and a "predictable") Cave Swallow in NJ...in almost December! Wild stuff. ebird.org/checklist/S204…

- Lingering vagrant oriole = 10/10 - Headline in local paper = 0/10 (completely unoriginal and avoidable) - “Journalism” (quoting my post to a rare bird group then drawing my job title from the interwebs without speaking to me) = priceless

Tried for (and dipped) on NY’s Taiga Bean-Goose yesterday. However, I did see a presumed Ross’s x Cackling hybrid and walked away with some sweet bird-themed Magic: The Gathering cards a friend from PA brought for me. Hoping for a repeat chase next weekend 🤞🏻.

Last night, Sibley spoke at a local library. He signed a few books, including this bird-finding guide to NJ. This was my first exposure to his art, long before his field guides. He stared at it as if seeing a long-lost relative. "Wow! I don't think I've ever signed one of these!"

A friend of a friend of a friend found this dead bird along the bank of the Merrimack River in MA. Some friends say it looks like a penguin. ChatGPT says it’s a Canada Goose. What say you?!?
