1) Reading this review on fatigue in other diseases: it's notable how it manifests early in the illness (often before diagnosis), how it's often poorly explained (correlates poorly with pathology markers), yet is reported to be one of the most disabling symptoms.

1) ME Research UK (MERUK) has made this useful overview of funding opportunities for ME/CFS researchers in the UK. It includes a lot of info about preparing an application and involving patients and carers.

Kirst Most people who recover don’t make money off of it. Some just give people who have recovered a platform to tell their story. They recognize that ME/CFS & LC are biopsychosocial conditions that require biopsychosocial solutions and more people should listen to them.

Looks like this trial actually showed that HBOT likely doesn't work in ME/CFS. They excluded 7/37 participants who dropped out They do not compare results to a control group Participants received 40 sessions And still, the improvement was only 6.3 points on the SF-36 PF scale

For patients with Long Covid: you can now participate in a remote treatment trial of tirzepatide (a GLP-1 inhibitor also known as zepbound). The study is organized by Scripps Research and aims to enroll 1000 participants.

Researchers found that people taking #melatonin long-term had 90% higher odds of heart failure 😨 While the findings raise concern, they don’t prove cause and effect - but still something to be wary of. neurosciencenews.com/melatonin-hear…

1) New preprint from the Stanford group of Ron Davis. They looked for 185 human viruses, and found traces of 17 viruses in patients or controls. "Surprisingly", the authors write "more viruses were found in the healthy controls than in the ME/CFS patients."

Interesting that this Canadian study found upregulated genes involved in neuronal differentiation and development. DecodeME and the Snyder preprint also pointed in that direction (although using other genes and approaches).

1) Had a look at this paper on 'The clinical relevance of Mast Cell Activation in ME/CFS'. Unfortunately, it's almost fully based on self-reported data and questionnaires. There are still almost no studies that looked deeper into MCAS in ME/CFS using proper biological tests.

1) 🇩🇪 Some really good news! Germany plans to invest half a billion euros in research on diseases such as ME/CFS and Long Covid. They are calling it "The National Decade Against Post-Infectious Diseases"

1) Found this summary to be a bit misleading. There was no profound mitochondrial dysfunction, and no abnormalities were found in the CD4 T cells.

“This condition teaches us that the brain doesn’t separate into neurologic circuits and psychiatric circuits,” Perez says. “It challenges the artificial dualism between psychiatry & neurology and between physical health & mental health as robustly and directly as any condition.”

Fitbit Versa 4 vs ECG. Looks like another case of unreported heteroscedasticity (greater error with increasing HRV, as shown with my added lines). Also note that RMSSD values were <45 ms. What happens with higher values? Probably greater error. Abandon HRV from the wrist.
