Very glad to welcome the State Government’s reforms to environmental approvals today. Now attention turns to the Federal Government’s Nature Positive agenda; now firmly out of step with the policies and ambitions of our great state.

Jobs data out today. While the WA labour market is still tight by historical standards, there are now genuine signs of a loosening. The unemployment rate ticked up, hours worked decreased, and there was a swing from full-time to part-time. None of this of course unexpected.

.Rita Saffioti tells Aaron Morey she doesn’t believe the federal government will mess with WA’s GST share because “they know they would lose every seat in the state.”

Great to share a conversation with Deputy Premier Rita Saffioti at today's CCIWA Business Breakfast. The government's policy agenda is pointing in the right direction. CCIWA looks forward to continuing to work constructively with the government on the issues that matter.

The Victorian Government is outraged it subsidises South Australia via the GST system. It appears they have unwittingly aligned themselves with Western Australia on GST distribution policy. theaustralian.com.au/nation/politic…

Great to join forces with other industry groups today, calling for the burden of payroll tax to be lowered on WA small & family businesses. Its unfair WA businesses pay the highest payroll tax in the country. There is an easy fix, and we call on the state govt to provide relief.

CCIWA has consistently highlighted the potential risks to WA's economy of the Federal Government's 'Nature Positive' reforms. Aaron Morey told Laura Tingle on abc730, concerns remain despite positive signs the Government is listening to industry. More: cciwa.com/business-pulse…

After reviewing today's national accounts release, there is no doubting that Western Australia is the strongest economy in the nation. Despite this record activity however, small business profits are almost non-existent and require urgent policy support.
