This BMR prussic acid free sorghum Sudan was planted June 10th. 20 days later and looking great, some weed pressure but it is already almost 2 ft tall! ⁦UNL Beef⁩ ⁦Univ of NE ENREEC

Messed up a bit with this field. Was in corn the year before and didn’t spray for weeds this spring. So a lot of weeds. Sorghum Sudan was planted May 16th. It is 4 ft tall. We will see what the cattle eat, hopefully they help with the weed pressure.

MS student Pedro Fernandes did an excellent job presenting his work (one of many 😆) at ASAS Nationals, estimating sudangrass biomass using vegetation indices and standing height. Technology sometimes work better, sometimes it's not! Connect with Pedro to learn more!

Happy with how this 50:50 mix of cowpea and sorghum sudangrass mix is looking. Planted July 3rd, 12 days and it has made a lot of progress. The cowpeas really look good, will see how they compete. Will strip graze this in winter Univ of NE ENREEC⁩ ⁦Nebraska Extension

The prussic acid free sorghum Sudan regrowth is looking pretty good. Been rotationally grazing for a month with paddocks grazed twice so far. Hope to get to October grazing this field. ⁦UNL BeefUniv of NE ENREEC

Third round of rotational grazing for the Sudangrass (started July 11). Starting to run out of juice, has the heat and moisture, need some nitrogen. Have only applied 50 lb/ac. Should have applied 3 weeks ago but weather not cooperating. Cows still happy @unlbeef Univ of NE ENREEC

Sorghum Sudan with cowpea now 5 ft tall. The cowpea has vined up the sorghum Sudan and is looking pretty good. Will have to see how much added feed value for the cost. NCR-SARE UNL Beef
