Together, BRAC and UNDP Bangladesh have been making the camps cleaner & safer for Rohingya by managing solid waste. Today, United Nations ASG & UNDP in Asia and the Pacific Director Kanni Wignaraja visited the sanitary landfill at Camp 20 Ext. The site is almost full, so new solutions are urgently needed.

#Rohingya #refugees now receive $8/month ration - 33% less food than 6 months ago. With very limited ways to make a living, life is becoming increasingly difficult. Sustained international support & new approaches are urgently needed to avert a food crisis.

On 22-23 Sept, with District Judgeship & Bar Association of Cox’s Bazar, UNDP Bangladesh trains 70 Civil & Criminal Advocates in effective fair legal proceedings, incl. speedy settlement of trial cases. “To ensure the rights of the people to get justice” said Hon. Mr. Shaheen Uddin

In 🇧🇩 Australia Assists deployees provide technical expertise to support Rohingya and host communities. James and Carl have been focusing on strengthening the coordination of life changing programs and increasing resilience of affected populations.

It just goes on, and on, and on. 24 square kilometres. 200,000 families. 500,000 kids. Many born in Cox’s Bazar, facing the prospect of a lifetime here. Incredible human potential, wasting away with malnutrition, disease. We can’t forget them.

Monday was my last day at UN Development in Bangladesh 🇧🇩. Strengthening governance & coordination, development planning & introducing nexus approaches was rewarding. I now join IOM - UN Migration 🇺🇳 in Vanuatu 🇻🇺 to work on Immigration Border Governance, Labour Migration, Climate Change & DRR.

Migration is a promise for a sustainable future. Re-energised after meeting with Chiefs of Mission and Heads of Office covering our largest and one of our most diverse and dynamic regions to discuss ways on how we can continue to build a sustainable future for all.
