#OnThisDay in 1718, Calico Jack became captain! After he fled from a French warship, Calico Jack Rackham accused Charles Vane of cowardice and cast him adrift in a captured vessel. Rackham would later return to Nassau, before going pirating again with Anne Bonny #PirateHistory

#OnThisDay in 1718, Stede Bonnet, the Gentleman Pirate, was hanged in Charleston. Bonnet was a wealthy landowner whose decision to turn to piracy is still debated. Nonetheless, he is now remembered as one of the most iconic figures of the ‘Golden Age’ of Piracy #PirateHistory
