I am so sad to say goodbye to Lavery on Location tonight National Gallery of Ireland - so many pictures and details will live long in the memory. Happily there is a chance to see it again in two further iterations Ulster Museum and National Galleries of Scotland

Thank you Laura Freeman for your excellent The Times and The Sunday Times editorial on art history, and mention of AHLU! “Art History Link-Up has worked wonders in bringing art history to pupils from all backgrounds… encore plus”. Indeed - we will be joining you aux barricades! #arthistory4everyone

I loved writing about this room in The Power of Art. It’s the bedroom of a privileged Roman, now The Metropolitan Museum of Art on public display. These frescoes include almost everything - fine art, peaceful birdsong, a beautiful garden, delicious fruit - that I wish greeted me in the morning.

This is lovely news to share. Thank you to all our visitors, and all National Gallery of Ireland who have worked to inspire and look after all of you who enjoy our art and activities.

We have five more days of Turner in 2024 National Gallery of Ireland and such luminous watercolours to enjoy by JMW himself, and others, in an invigorating exhibition of coastal scenes curated by Niamh MacNally. This is the Val d’Aosta. I love the distant mountains, evoked with wash.

🎁 Yesterday, University College Dublin University Librarian Dr Sandra Collins met with Dr Caroline Campbell & Andrea Lydon in the stunning National Gallery of Ireland reading room to present edition no. 44/100 of GRIEF'S BROKEN BROW, our fine press collection of commemorative poetry. #decadeofcentenaries

Turning Heads has opened this morning National Gallery of Ireland - congratulations to Dr Lizzie Marx and everyone involved. It’s been a pleasure working with our colleagues KMSKA on this wonderful show.

Honoured to have been in Venice for the launch of Eimear Walshe’s Romantic Ireland. Congratulations to all involved, especially the artist, curator Sara Greavu, Project Arts Centre and Ireland at Venice - I look forward to returning later this year for all the Biennale has to offer.

Much looking forward to talking about The Power of Art Swindon Festival of Literature presents... on Tuesday 7 at 12.30.

Such a privilege to be with you last night Lih Fang C Ulster Museum to celebrate Caravaggio in Belfast. Thank you to the Jesuit Community in Dublin for making possible the loan of ‘The Taking of Christ’ )which is on permanent loan National Gallery of Ireland) to our friends in Belfast.

Something else to brighten up this late spring morning - Vermeer Visits opens today at the National Gallery of Ireland. Many thanks to our friends The Frick Collection for generously sharing ‘Mistress and Maid’ with us in Dublin.

Exciting news for our friends Crawford Art Gallery with investment from Department of Culture, Communications and Sport and delivered by Office of Public Works - part of the National Development Plan, which will see many of Ireland’s national cultural institutions renewed and restored.
