A key proves you can act. It doesn’t prove you should. That’s the gap in crypto. Until identity defines ownership, everything else is a workaround. And without a control layer, the system can’t enforce anything. Full breakdown ↓ open.substack.com/pub/thecalderw…

The shift is subtle but important: From protocol building → operating financial products From “crypto roles” → P&L ownership, compliance, distribution That’s how you know a market is maturing (stablecoins) Details + companies hiring: open.substack.com/pub/thecalderw…

Crypto has execution. It has custody. It does not have identity as a primitive, and without identity there is no control worth the name. Latest of four pieces on why the account layer is the thing holding the whole industry back. open.substack.com/pub/thecalderw…

The infrastructure to fix crypto's biggest UX and security problem is already on four billion phones. Apple Pay uses it. Your banking app uses it. Google Android uses it. Crypto wallets mostly don't. Why the secure enclave is the identity primitive nobody's using.

Stablecoin activity is in the rise. I’m not sure fx trading is there yet, but with agentic trading we may need new guardrails in place to insure regulatory compliance doesn’t break every time there’s a wild fluctuation in price. This will likely favor the big 5 more stable fiat

For a Dasher in London, stablecoin payouts are a convenience. For a Dasher in Mexico City or Bogotá, $USDC from Circle settling in under a second is better money than what the local banking system offers. Geography is the whole DoorDash stablecoin story. Wrote it up:

Getting paid in $USDC is only half the equation. The real question is whether DoorDash Dashers can spend it without converting back to fiat first. Shopify , Visa , Mastercard , and Stripe are all building that layer right now, simultaneously. Why that timing matters:
