NEW in BusinessDen: In March, Denver approved Brad Eide's plans for a 242-unit apartment project in Lincoln Park. In April, he got a "notice of intent to acquire" from Denver Water. “We’re sitting here in purgatory,” Eide told me businessden.com/2025/07/08/den…

Thankfully in Denver the most recent design guidelines have hidden the most prominent building edges that would have shown parking garages… but we still have a lot of ugly parking podiums here too

NEW: A Democrat running for Colorado's most competitive congressional district got caught using a photo of Canadian mountains instead of Colorado mountains. Also, the Republican representing CO-8 just voted for nearly $1T in cuts to Medicaid and other health programs. #copolitics

Zoning limits how tall new skyscrapers are in most of downtown + complicated sunlight preservation rules. 1801 California Street, Denver’s 2nd tallest skyscraper, is 309 ft taller than zoning allows today! Downtown area plan could do away with height limits in D-C zones tho 👀

Great interview today on City Cast Denver with Councilman Darrell Watson, especially his comments about reimagining and possibly removing the L Line going up Welton Street. Really important conversation, and advocates should listen closely to the argument! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/cit…

What’s worse: A) Gabe Evans gutting Medicaid for hundreds of thousands in his district to hand tax breaks to out-of-state billionaires or B) Manny Rutinel using a stock photo of the Rocky Mountains from Canada instead of Colorado

How interested are you in the bond-funded 5280 Trail project as it goes down two blocks of Acoma Street past the old Evans School from 10th to 12th?

“It took from the invention of the photovoltaic solar cell, in 1954, until 2022 for the world to install a terawatt of solar power; the second terawatt came just two years later, and the third will arrive either later this year or early next.” newyorker.com/news/annals-of…

Today’s psychotic Denver weather summarized: 💨Strongest gust in 5+ years (70 mph) 🥶Denver’s low of 68° was at…2:14pm 🌨️Two severe-level wind storms (58 + 70 mph) 🌡️Would’ve been our warmest low in 143 years if not for an outflow boundary 😂Warmer at 4am (86°) than 4pm (82°)

Related to 5280 on Acoma St, the results are in from the public on how they want to cross Speer Boulevard via the 5280 Trail and it’s conclusive—a new signal and new crossing at Cherokee/10th Ave with new park space was far and away the preferred approach…

Saw that construction on Colfax had torn up the sidewalk out front of Pete’s Kitchen so I decided to stop by and #backthefax for breakfast. Boy, it was busy!! Can’t wait until there are new trees out front on Colfax once the BRT is up and running

Denver should absolutely focus on building more housing, BUT we also need to cut red tape that blocks small businesses from opening in neighborhoods I love little coffee shops like this one tucked into old houses in neighborhoods. We need more of this energy across the city!
