22 Swift in a tight ball screaming over capel - hopefully some are young from the two nest sites in village, 4-5 days and they’ll be gone till next year…..

A decent watch at the Tower this morning with Robin Stride and Mark Davis Highlight was a high westbound flock of 25 Whimbrel. Backing cast included 2 Tree pipit S and 17 Swift 3 Swallow and 9 House Martin loosely E. 3 Raven Hobby and Spot fly seen. G R dragonfly also.

3 mile circuit of Capel with dogs produced a Spot Fly 2 willow w and lesser white. Quiet overhead other than single grey Wag and flock of 24 Swallow S.

Buckland pit this morning. 16 reed warbler 12 Blackcap 2 whitethroat and willow warbler. 6 sand Martin and 9 Swallow through E. 5 mandarin 37 Egyptian 78 Canada and 144 Greylag geese out of roost.

Buckland in the wet this morning. Fairly quiet nothing apparent knocked down by rain. 3 willow warbler 12 Reed warbler 168 greylag 80 Canada and 46 Egyptian Geese. 3 Mandarin over.

Leith Hill Tower with Robin Stride this morning. Very quiet watch, a Kestrel through south and 14 Swallow and 58 House Martin the same way. Woodlark and 2 Marsh Tits also seen.

A couple of hours at Buckland this evening as the rain eased. Best 2 Swift in with a mixed flock of hirundines that pushed East. Couldn’t get in on any of the inland seabird action and later a Black Tern just down the road at Holmthorpe - maybe tomorrow ?!
