Sad news as Dr. Norman I. Platnick (American Museum of Natural History, New York), world authority on #spider #taxonomy and #systematics and a major contributor to phylogenetic and biogeographic theory passed away. He named 159 genera and 2023 #species. He will be missed.

Xeviosos cepfi, a #newspecies spider described by Brogan L. Pett and Rudy Jocque from the #BINCO Njesi #expedition 2016, #Mozambique. The #species is dedicated to the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (#CEPF) and the fantastic work they do to protect our #naturalcapital.

We'd like to introduce you to a newly discovered spider species from #Mozambique, Xevioso cepfi! CEPF grantee BINCO named the spider in honor of CEPF. We think she's the most beautiful spider we've ever seen 😍
