The thing I was most enamored about w this film was Mickey’s willingness to accept her as her daughter, and Nelson’s commitment to respecting him and a little girl’s normalcy after making a questionable decision. Pure paternal love on both ends.

Our girl Ellen also deserves a shout out. Her willingness to support Mickey supporting Jayne at the end, THEN stepping in and raising three traumatized kiddos? What a blessing all of those adults were to M, and what a non-Hollywood norm.

The entire documentary was so fascinating and incredibly well made, and you can see so clearly how and why she’s become the woman she’s become.
