The report found that with proper resourcing and strategic integration, supported housing could take pressure off the NHS through enabling later admissions and more effective hospital discharge, reduce the pressure on local authority homelessness services, and reduce crime.

#SpringBudget2023 is almost upon us & helpfully our #supportedhousing research launch last week highlighted some recommendations from the National Housing Federation team for the government to fund supported housing more effectively and increase it's positive impact. My attempt at a 🧵

Investment is needed for housing to support the NHS + social care services & work together to improve residents' health + wellbeing. The government should allocate the £300million Department of Health and Social Care Strategic Housing Fund so supported housing can continue to support these vital services.

Right now 53% of residents that were ready to move on couldn't due to a lack of suitable accommodation. Government investment in building more social housing would improve short-term supported housing's ability to move people to affordable + suitable independent tenancies

In a recent NHF survey, 69% of supported housing providers said they would build more homes if conditions allowed, but cited financial viability as the top barrier. One of the main barriers to developing more is the capital grant available being too low. housing.org.uk/resources/supp…
