Landmark show, cannot be overstated how influential it is to pretty much every American adult animated show that comes after.

Said it before but Venture Bros. is like the one Nerd work that is fundamentally about how being too obsessed with these interests will arrest your development, nostalgia is a prison. What makes it art though is the tension in knowing Publick and Hammer love this stuff too

bint ♨️🐧 It's because he's basically stopped being an "anime guy" and is now mostly known as a politics grifter. So his "main channel", which was anime-centric is dying, but his "side channel" which is trite political reaction shit is growing still.

I really wish Nostalgia wasn’t treated as poison to the online sphere of critics. Some of the best works of art and entertainment are made because of the artists’ personal nostalgic ties and wanting to make it their own for future generations to enjoy.

It especially angers me when some subsects of Star Wars Fans complain about Nostalgia as an influence for creative direction, as if Star Wars itself wouldn’t exist if Lucas himself was not a Nostalgia head who wore his influences on his sleeve! Like C’mon now!

On the surface an edgy parody of Johnny Quest, is actually a loving satirical tribute to the creators’ love of pulp adventure novels, superhero comic books and classic cartoons with some of the best worldbuiling lore in a show.
