Only way this can be reconciled is by UK rejoining the EEA (& joining PEM if not agreeing a customs union) ..nobody voted to leave those... otherwise it's more continued, in denial, hoping to cherry pick. In which case the EU27 should rightly continue to tell the UK to fuck off

Why don't they?? If the fishermen, farmers, auto workers, musicians, SMEs, hospitality sector, self drive holiday makers, those that love more varied continental fayre at lower cost etc, all protested together in demanding a return to the SM/CU, then no government can ignore that

Suggest Labour might also want to charm its own supporters over a Gulf trade deal since without a big sell this could easily end up looking like an agreement that isn't delivering much and controversial on eg environmental provisions. theguardian.com/politics/2024/โ€ฆ
