Check out our new preprint on arxiv! With Volodymyr Sivak Andy Ding Baptiste Royer and others at @QlabYale YaleQuantumInstitute we show universal control of an oscillator coupled to a qubit can occur much faster than is usually assumed by using large oscillator displacements arxiv.org/abs/2111.06414

Computation and communication are unreliable without error correction! Error correction zoo provides a place to collect info about any error-correcting code, classical or quantum; develops a taxonomy of relations between codes; and indexes features like decoders, thresholds, rates, FT, etc.

Volodymyr Sivak of YaleQuantumInstitute presents beyond break-even error correction with GKP codes at #apsmarch. This means that quantum error correction has definitively done its job: the logical error rate is 1.4 times *longer* than the bare physical error rate. A first AFAWK for a quantum code!

The Herculaneum papyri are more than 1800 papyri that were carbonized by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius (79 CE). IT'S the only surviving library from antiquity that exists in its entirety. With x-rays, these scrolls are being read for the first time in millennia

If you missed our paper on arxiv last week, check it out: arxiv.org/abs/2302.12088 With Philippe Campagne-Ibarcq, I worked on an error-correction protocol for GKP states that focuses on the suppression of non-correctable errors induced by the ancillary system. Inria @LP_ENS_

(1/5) Decoherence is a fundamental phenomenon through which classical behavior emerges from the quantum laws of nature. It is the main obstacle to harnessing these laws for information processing.

Want to learn about our work on entangling superconducting #quantum bits over a distance of 30 meters and investigating their non-local properties in a loophole-free Bell test? Check out this short video presenting the work in an accessible way. Includes nice images of the lab.

usherbrooke.ca/ecoles-de-poin… There will be a very interesting summer school on near-term quantum algorithms near Sherbrooke! June 2-14, please apply by March 15th.

As part of the QuantaMole consortium I am looking to hire a Postdoc and a PhD student to join our group in Montreal Polytechnique Mtl working on using novel materials with high nonlinearities for photon-photon interactions. More info: qpi.polymtl.ca/joinus Retweets are also appreciated.
