Daniel Sparks Only 7 times in 30 years did a measure qualify for the ballot and only 4 times did Mississippians pass an initiative. Mississippians have a solid record in regards to passing issues through the BI process. This is a constitutional right reserved to qualified voters.
As Russ Latino states, the Mississippi Constitution contains an express right of the people to amend by the ballot initiative process. Join us by letting your local legislator know how important this constitutional right is to you. #msleg magnoliatribune.com/2023/12/31/202…
Reinstating the Constitutional right to a ballot initiative process is one of the most important issues to Mississippians across the state. We applaud the leadership of Speaker Jason White for listening to the people and wanting to move a bill quickly. #msleg
Thank you Representative Rodney Hall 🇺🇸
More from Jason White. The house passed a ballot initiative bill that restricts, among other things, any restoration of abortion rights from being put on the ballot. Speaker White provided some insight on why that language was included:
Will this be the year the MS Legislature finally restores the ballot initiative? Spence Flatgard, chairman of BallotAccessMississippi, joined MS Today's podcast this morning to share what he and BAM are doing to advocate for the initiative this year.
We appreciate the steadfast commitment from Speaker Jason White for wanting to restore Mississippian’s constitutional right to a ballot initiative process. His powerful speech Neshoba County Fair Assn., Inc. is yet another reminder why Mississippians should have a voice in their everyday lives.
