Rebecca did a great job capturing my thoughts in this article, but I do have a few clarifications! gamesindustry.biz/articles/2019-… - I don't think AR/VR *must* converge. - I definitely don't think HMDs alone will replace PCs. I see them as one of many tools for ubiquitous computing.

Ok this took forever but by trial and error I found the problem on iPhone. Three.JS uses a bone texture and it’s sampled as fp16 by default by the driver, so there’s just not enough precision for bone xforms! Adding “highp” to sampler2D declaration fixes it.

Here's a potentially very useful D3D debugging tool I didn't know of: ID3DDestructionNotifier* You can get a callback when a specific D3D resource gets destroyed. I only learned about this by accident after diffing D3D headers.

In gamedev, programmers and artists are slightly insulated from random criticism because of the obvious inability of an unskilled person to do the work, but everyone thinks they can do the work of a game designer. Similarly for executives. What is the FizzBuzz filter there?

Theory: github users and programmers targeting Linux are both vocal minorities and everyone catering to them is artificially limiting the usefulness of their products.

A short thread on a few Celeste game-feel things :) I don't think we invented any of these. 1- Coyote time. You can still jump for a short time after leaving a ledge.

Communicating size is an #AR superpower, but making 3D models takes time. Introducing size.link, a hack-days project from @shopify's AR/VR team. Type in dimensions, share the link, and any AR capable device can view those dimensions in their space! No app needed!
