In a previous incarnation The Alarm were the band Seventeen. In 1980 they were investigated by the DHSS for playing gigs while signing on. After months of hassle they were let off. Here they can be seen celebrating outside their local DHSS office in Rhyl. Photo: NME.

There's a 6-page article on Cavan Grogan in the latest issue of Vintage Rock magazine. Newport rocker Grogan was a veteran of the UK teddy boy scene.

Was in Liverpool today so called by the 'Welsh Cathedral' - Princes Rd Welsh Church - in Toxteth. Another bit of it seems to have fallen off every time. What a way to treat our heritage. In the 19th century, this was the most important Welsh-language building in the world.

So sad to hear about Mike Peters. The Alarm was a great band & Mike was a great, proud Welshman who loved this crazy business and appreciated that it was all about the fans. God bless you mate. Love Hooky. X RIP X

Finally got around to watching spy drama The Americans recently. Understand now why it was so critically lauded. Matthew Rhys was brilliant throughout. youtu.be/CloA0LWwuP4?si…

I really enjoyed this documentary. Robert Haines returns to Merthyr Tydfil and tracks down some of the subjects of an early collection of his photographs.
