After the warnings proposed by SODMA Somalia , which claimed that it would flood the river Shabelle before the towns of Baledwayne and Jowhar, has just come true, saving lives and property were possible due to various media sectors such as the national media and local media. 1/2

The Somali Disaster Management Agency is warning and advising the Somali community to be aware of the risk of flooding caused by the spring rains in some regions of the country, although it is predicted that the rains will be lower in quantity than in the spring season.

In an effort to evaluate preparedness for potential flooding, I've visited SODMA Somalia HQ today. Heavy rains are putting our riverine communities at risk, making it imperative for both local & Intl. aid organisations to join forces with SoDMA in coordinated emergency response.
