I feel like as an educator, I'm having to remind too many people in education that all behaviors are a form of communication and if a CHILD is wilding, somebody needs to sit down and figure out why.

Look I’ve only been a parent for Iike 90 seconds but hot take: “behavior” is a bad word. Kids are assholes sometimes, yes. But 99% of what is attributed to “bad behavior” is age appropriate emotional expression and y’all are goofy for expecting children to sit down & be quiet.

No because “behavior” is often an indication of a child’s needs, environment, skillset(lack of) and circumstances. Withholding a gift won’t remedy the root cause. Hot take: a gift is an item given to someone without expectations of something in return (good behavior included).

Someone smarter than me tell me why it makes me cringe when adults pout and make a big deal when small children don’t share with them. Making a kid feel responsible for your feelings is… ick.

Christmas 2023 is turning out to be really wonderful. We’re doing some very minimal gift-exchanging. Hopefully eliminating it completely next year among the adults in the family. We’re focusing on breaking bread and spending time with one another.

Being an adult can also be about catching up on things you missed out as a child. Buy that plushie, eat that ice cream everyday, watch that cartoon, hell start jokingly believing in Santa again, who’s gonna stop you??

the mental switch from “why am i not enough?” to “it’s strange that there are people in my life that make me feel that i need to prove my worth to them” is so drastic and sudden tbh.

Look I want bike lanes as much as the next person but the conversation should start at reducing the need to travel long distances. Commercial space should be occupied or forfeited.

slightly controversial take as a childcare provider and daycare worker of 20 years… she’s not wrong, because most parents work this week and those who aren’t probably desperately need to get stuff done before they do go back. but the problem is not with the parents or kids.

Moms how are we doing? Everyone around me is like — oh I love this lounge time between Christmas and New Years and I’m about to rip my hair out between the abbreviated daycare hrs, pure exhaustion from the holidays, and the sprint to get shit done before going back to work.
