There are so many great companies going belly up at the moment that it makes me queasy - especially because there are many innovations that will die! And then there are a group of arrogant assholes who armchair quarterback, pretending they know what building a business is like!

In honor of #International_Womens_Day I’d like to once again remind you that iron deficiency affects a huge proportion of women, has a myriad of negative health consequences and is systemically ignored and dismissed. tinyurl.com/JAMAFe

This is quite shocking, and given Vail resorts consistent efforts to defer maintenance elsewhere (e.g., summer grooming of trails) suggests that the risk of major accidents from ski lifts is a great deal higher than it should be.

Deferred maintenance is a common tool to boost near term cash flow at the expense of the longer term. Vail does it extensively (just look at how many runs are overrun by large bushes that were never there 5-10 years ago). Major outages like these are a symptom!

A patroller died 2y ago due a lift issue at PCMR. Recently a safety system was disabled at a different lift, causing chairs to slide and tangle. A chair slid at Heavenly hospitalizing 5. A chair fell from the line at Attitash, hospitalizing one. Common thread: Vail Resorts!

This is really awful. A little bit of me wants to not believe it, but I’ve heard enough of the casual antisemitism on the Columbia campus in recent years that it rings very true. I continue to be shocked that it seems “cool” in some circles to hate Jews for being Jews.

I’d love to hear from some doctors in the U.K., France and Australia. These folks are honestly arguing that U.S. doctors are almost 3 times as productive as those in the U.K. and France. And they seem so upset to face skepticism!

I see the same thing all the time! Picked up a medicine yesterday. Specialty medicine, tier A (so the lowest copay for a specialty med): $170 for a month. Cash price at that pharmacy: $110, goodRx price at a Pharmacy 5 minutes away: $70. Price opacity kills the market.

Haven’t read this article, but the premise is true! Most people over interpret “significant”. Arguments where someone says “it wasn’t statistically significant” and means “case closed”. Might be better to argue “there is a >5% chance that this thing has no meaningful effect.”
