Our primary team had a chance today to share our student’s literacy growth with each other. I am so incredibly proud of how far my kiddos have come. The gains between September and now are HUGE! I absolutely love my job more every day and I can’t explain how amazing our team is!

Before the Easter break, I arranged for our entire school to get a visit from Regina Fire to learn about fire safety. Today, our class (and the other primary classes) had a chance to participate in some hands-on learning. It was a great experience for the kiddos!

We have been learning about the Earth and its importance as we prepare for Earth day. Here are some of the things my kiddos have thought of to help save the Earth! I am so excited for all of the activities we got planned for Monday!

Happy Earth day!🌎 We did a UFLI aligned Earth day crack the code, a listening activity about Earth day, read a story, played a game in pe about littering, learned about the 3Rs, and made seed bombs with paper from the recycling bin and recycled cardboard planters!!

For the last hour of the day, we started our new plants unit outside!☀️ We went on a nature walk and took a close look at the plants outside. Afterwards, students wrote down some questions that they had about plants 🪴 Regina Public Schools

We have been learning about plants so we had a story workshop all about the life of a plant! We read the story “Seeds! Seeds! Seeds!” and then had a chance to create our own stories about plants. I’m so proud of my kiddos for their creativity and writing! Regina Public Schools

We harvested our speckled peas today🌱 The students learned how to harvest vegetables and the importance of washing things before eating it!

For our story workshop this week, I read the book “Each Living Thing” which identified different living things. Students listened carefully and chose at least one living thing from the book to create a story about! This related to science and ELA! Regina Public Schools

This morning we visited the ReginaPublicLibrary and the kiddos had a blast! I’m so excited to get them involved with their local library, just in time for Summer break!📚

Surprised my class today with our tie dyed shirts and camp learned a lot!! At camp, we reviewed different literacy and math concepts learned this year. I heard from several students that it was the “best day ever”⛺️ Regina Public Schools

We had a wonderful day at Dr. George Ferguson recognizing and celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day!

Last weekend I further learned about Indigenous history and culture at Wanuskewin on Treaty 6 territory! I highly recommend taking the trip out here and walking the trails to learn about all of the history occurring on these lands. I left feeling incredibly impacted!

We had our first story workshop today and it was a success! We read “What Do You Do With An Idea?” and then the students were given the chance to create a story with their own ideas. I loved seeing the students creativity spark in their creations✏️ Regina Public Schools

We have been busy in Grade 1/2 this week learning about how we are all Treaty people! We have read this poem every morning and then had conversations about the importance of treaties and what Treaty territory we live in!

Check out our Thanksgiving inspired story workshop! The students used loose parts to create three things that they are thankful for and then turned their creation into written stories! Regina Public Schools
