Why do lawyers insist on writing “above referenced case”? No one actually speaks that way.

Bought a dishwasher at the Lowe's in mid-July. It is stuck in the wash cycle and will not shut off. It is a lemon. I want to return the unit, not a repair. Tried to get assistance through my local Lowes and through Customer Care on the website. Seeking a better solution.
