Four days after parting ways with Mike Kickham, the Flying Boxcars have released 2024 team MVP Welington Dotel. The 39-year-old outfielder held Hagerstown's franchise hits record before landing on the injured list in June. His 893 career hits rank seventh in ALPB history.

The Flying Boxcars signed RHP Jake Shapley. The 24-year-old pitched at Barton College and Rutgers-Camden during his collegiate career, tossing his most recent innings in the Coastal Plains League as a reliever. Subsequently, Hagerstown announced the release of Roidel Martinez.

The 2025 Hagerstown Flying Boxcars have assured they will not become the ALPB’s first 100-game loser in two decades, notching their all-important 27th win tonight. The club could show year-over-year improvement with a 10-7 finish to the regular season.

The Flying Boxcars’ 2-1 loss on Sunday dropped the club to 28-89 on the year, matching their loss total from last season. Another loss would make Hagerstown the fourth franchise in ALPB history to lose 90 games in a season and just the second to do so in a 126-game format.

Bryce Cannon cemented himself in Flying Boxcars history today, hitting for the franchise’s first-ever cycle in a 14-13 win over Gastonia. A go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning capped off Cannon’s historic day, during which he drove in a team-high four runs.

Postseason play in the Atlantic League begins today. Mike Kickham and his York Revolution are set to host Joe Campagna and his Lancaster Stormers tonight at WellSpan Park. The winner of the best-of-five series will represent the North Division in the ALPB Championship Series.

Shane Turner is out as manager of the Flying Boxcars, according to the club. The team went 25-74 under the direction of Turner, who took the reins in late May following the departure of Mark Mason. Hagerstown now begins the search for its third manager ahead of the 2026 season.
