Last week we talked about similarities between Trump's deportation plan and early Nazi Germany, and the likelihood that mass deportation will impact millions of American citizens. Now we need to talk about how Trump's plan would CRIPPLE American farms and food production. 🧵

Up to 70% of farm workers in the U.S. are foreign-born. In some states, it's 85-90%. Approximately half of them are undocumented. These aren’t “illegals stealing our jobs." These are people in jobs that most Americans don’t want ourselves, and that’s backed by evidence.

If Donald Trump takes back the White House and follows through on the “largest mass deportation program in history,” then only a fraction of our produce will ever leave the farms. The cost of fruits, vegetables, dairy, and the products made with them would skyrocket.

The second "solution" is one that only the worst Republicans would suggest. Naturally, it came from Lauren Boebert: Speed up national bans on abortion and contraception to produce more Americans to work on farms. Next they'll most likely suggest ending child labor laws.
