We are looking at rentals in the area since my current landlord is selling. I can see why people are struggling to find housing. Since 2021, rent has increased over $1000 a month locally. The lease applications are EXTREMELY thorough. We are being priced out of survival SO FAST,

Self liberating people were referred to as maroons. The word "maroon" comes from the Taino word "simaran," meaning a stray arrow. In the 1770s, there was a large maroon community in the swamps south of New Orleans. 1873 print courtesy of the Library of Congress.

Louisiana wouldn’t expand the child tax credit, ban lunch shaming, almost denied Summer EBT, haven’t made all school lunches free, wouldn’t require air and heat on school buses, but THIS is what we do. The #lalege majority is not interested in helping our kids excel.
