Big day for #BrockPurdy as he is finally set to get surgery on his elbow. Best case likely 6mo for internal brace repair which puts him back on the field in September - if a full reconstruction it’s more likely the 9-12 month range. All depends on the extent of the damage

The younger you “specialize” in baseball the greater the risk of injury. You’re 4x more likely to suffer an arm injury if your only sport is baseball and you throw >8 months during the year Don’t quit fall/winter sports to “focus on baseball”. Put the ball down from Sep-Dec

Far too much. One start every 7 days for the high school pitcher = no more than 200 pitches in this timeframe. Heading down the wrong path here - one I see far too many kids get lead down

Adaptation from training doesn’t occur in the gym or during competition In order to optimize training adaptation you MUST hit all 3 buckets of recovery: 1. Hydration 2. Nutrition 3. Sleep Don’t expect your performance to improve if you aren’t hitting all 3 in between sessions

The overload principle - the most simple training concept that gets overlooked by athletes on a daily basis You MUST increase one of the following in order to see adaptation over time: 1. Load 2. Sets 3. Reps

Treatment strategy after a high day of throwing: 1. Assess ROM 2. Restore ROM loss 3. Arm care #physicaltherapy #baseball #baseballrehab #baseballperformance #pitching
