We love sharing cool neuroscience from our fellow students 🧠 Here is an image from one of our committee members Dr. Jake Cashion who has labelled astrocytes (magenta) and blood vessels (green) in the mouse brain. Together, these cells help to maintain cerebral blood flow.

We are currently looking to assemble our ANS Student Body Comittee for 2024! Lots of positions are open this year including Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and state representatives. If you would like more information please email us at [email protected]

We recently hosted a PowerPoint Karaoke event in Hobart Menzies Institute for Medical Research and had over 50 attendees. Our 9 keynote speakers did a great job at handling some difficult topics including mice driving cars and levitating frogs Thanks to Dr. Jake Cashion and Tom Lewis for organising!

Amazing image from Dr. Jake Cashion our Tasmanian Representative this year showing DCX positive cells in the hippocampus

If I’m going to have to yell at people, at-least it’s about microglia! Met so many awesome people (and new friends!) discussing my research on the use of brain #microglia autofluorescence as an index of brain inflammation at D1 of ANS Students Australasian Neuroscience Society

All work AND all play! Safe to say ANS Students Australasian Neuroscience Society 2023 conference was an inspiring and rejuvenating success. Can’t wait to get back into the swing of all things research 🤍

We love to share cool images and research. If you have something you'd like us to share please let us know here or at [email protected] Below iPSC-derived astrocytes

We're thrilled to introduce the #ANS2024 International Plenary Lecture speaker, Prof Tracy Bale Dr. Tracy Bale 🟧🧠 of the University of Colorado! Tracy will share some of her lab's exquisite data that demonstrate how extracellular vesicles serve as dynamic cellular communicators of stress + trauma🫧
