Seriously impressive opener by Mark English to finish just two hundredths of a second behind 1:41 man Gabriel Tual and advance to the 800m semi-final. One of his most impressive championship runs ever.

That 4x400m Irish Time would have got ๐Ÿฅ‡ in 1992, 1996 and 2000 ๐Ÿฅˆin 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020! You have to get back to 1988 for it not to medal aka the world record race!

Your regular reminder that in summer 2022, the Irish women's 4x400m relay were chasing races just to qualify for the European Championship in Munich. They are now 4th in the World!

With the final gold handed out (well done to the U.S. womenโ€™s basketball team) Team Ireland finishes 19th - nineteenth!! - on the global medal table. To the OFI, the athletes, gavin noble OLY and the team behind The Team: thank you. Itโ€™s been the most amazing fortnight to watch.

Lots of brilliant points made here by Derval, Sonia and Rob - you just hope the people with the power to enact what they suggest are listening.

There might have been no medal for Irish athletics in Paris, but the women's 400m and women's 4x400m finals were the #2 and #3 watched events by Irish audiences. 926,000 & 910,000 viewers. Those are huge, huge numbers. balls.ie/olympics/increโ€ฆ

Ireland's fastest man is joining the Florida training group of the Olympic 100 metres champion. A great opportunity for Israel Olatunde to learn from Noah Lyles, among others, having just lowered his own Irish record to 10.12 seconds last Sunday. irishtimes.com/sport/athleticโ€ฆ
