Hello world!🌍🌎🌏 It is time to officially launch our twitter account! We are a growing group Universität Konstanz, brought together by our fascination for neural processing, sensory ecology and insect behaviour. Stay tuned for more!
Happy #mothweek everyone! We're featuring our favourite winged lab members. First, we have the Hummingbird hawkmoth. From flight control and locating flowers to learning patterns, here Visual Insect Neuroeth. @insect-vision.bsky.social we study their brains and behavior to better understand how they see the world.
🦋The #UniKonstanz imaging hangar is now home to two new species: daytime hummingbird hawkmoth and nighttime elephant hawkmoth. Centre for the Adv Study of Collective Behaviour researchers are studying their flight in varying light to understand how surroundings impact insect flight. 🌄🌌
Our warmest congratulations to our #CASCB member Anna Stöckl anna-stoeckl.bsky.social Universität Konstanz, who received an #ERCStG! A deserving award for a brilliant researcher and such an important project! We are so happy for you! 🎉🎉🎉
ERC Starting Grant European Research Council (ERC) of 1.5 million euros in funding awarded to #UniKonstanz Centre for the Adv Study of Collective Behaviour biologist Anna Stöckl Anna Stöckl anna-stoeckl.bsky.social for her project "DynamicVision" investigating the visually-guided flight of moths Visual Insect Neuroeth. @insect-vision.bsky.social. Details: t1p.de/3cmvl
Time flies when you're having fun! Half of the #dzg23 is already over, but we, JJFosterLab, Neurobiology Konstanz, are looking forward to the remaining two days full of exciting talks and posters! GradSchool: Multiscale clocks DZG Neurobiologie Centre for the Adv Study of Collective Behaviour Universität Konstanz
Have you ever been curious about how visual information is processed in tiny insect brains? Come and check out my talk about dynamic processing in motion vision of hawkmoths at 1 pm in the Neurobiology session at #dzg23! Visual Insect Neuroeth. @insect-vision.bsky.social DZG Neurobiologie DZG Centre for the Adv Study of Collective Behaviour
We're very happy for PhD students AndreaGonsek and Lochlan W officially joining the Hector Fellow Academy Hector Fellow Academy! They'll be supported by the foundation over the next few years. See their exciting projects below 👇 (A: hector-fellow-academy.de/en/associated-…) (L: hector-fellow-academy.de/en/doctoral-pr…)
Thanks to their special visual abilities, #moths can fly safely even in the deepest darkness and they even see colours! Anna Stöckl anna-stoeckl.bsky.social and her Visual Insect Neuroeth. @insect-vision.bsky.social team from Universität Konstanz Centre for the Adv Study of Collective Behaviour give brilliant insights in a #3satnano TV report🎥 (start 20:33) 3sat.de/wissen/nano/23…
Paper🚨t.ly/Q1EV- we show how hummingbird hawkmoths visually control their proboscis when probing flower patterns. Basically: not so different from how we get our fingers to an app on our phone! But using a "tongue". t.ly/HTIcM (PR Universität Konstanz) 🧵
Today is #WorldLabDay: We are opening the digital gates to our #imaginghangar. Researchers from the Visual Insect Neuroeth. @insect-vision.bsky.social group and @cbehav will take you on a 360° tour of @unikonstanz's largest laboratory. Click on the blue information points to get further info. exc.uni-konstanz.de/collective-beh…
🚨#PhDposition You love🦋👁️#insects #vision #flight and are curious about how moths adjust their vision and movement dynamically to night-time lights (incl. #ALAN): apply to become part of our team Universität Konstanz (insect-vision.com): t.ly/QDkZS 📢pl RT
Our recent #ImagingHangar experiment got featured by the German Press Agency #dpa. Check out the full story on how #light 🌟influences #moth flight 🦋- an experiment conducted by AndreaGonsek and Anna Stöckl anna-stoeckl.bsky.social from Visual Insect Neuroeth. @insect-vision.bsky.social Universität Konstanz! Exciting first day for the Visual Insect Neuroeth. @insect-vision.bsky.social group at #icn2024berlin for the Lepidoptera Symposium 🦋 PhD students AndreaGonsek, Lochlan W, & Anupama Nayak gave insights into their hawkmoth work. More to come today!
We continue with a thrilling 2nd day for our group at the Lepidoptera satellite symposium. Ronja Bigge and Anna Stöckl anna-stoeckl.bsky.social talked about their work on hawkmoth vision and natural visual environments!👀🏞️ What an amazing start at #icn2024berlin! Can't wait to see what comes next!
