In order for the price of drugs to fall, whether it’s for Trumprx or any approach, the first thing that needs to happen is for every state to require that cash pay drug or care purchases be applied to the patient’s insurance plan deductible and OOP max. Governor Kevin Stitt Governor Jared Polis

Ooof. Doesn’t bode well for future of growing old in a US. Decreasing tax base to support social security and shrinking supply of workers of all types to support and care for elderly and sick. This is going to be painful. And costly.

Genuine question for all those arguing that it’s just the ACA subsidies that are driving the health insurance premium growth? Why are employer-sponsored premiums growing at a similar rate?

Impact of physician underemployment on capacity to care for patients is significant and growing problem. As a practicing physician I am *very* concerned and as a human with aging loved ones and kids, I am very worried. Supply and access is not just about the number of doctors.

I am old enough to remember the days when people couldn’t buy coverage because of pre-existing conditions. I actually saw patients work until the day before they died because they could not lose their employer coverage. Also big deterrent for entrepreneurs & small businesses.

Congress needs do make some choices: $35B to extend the subsidies? $20B to Argentina for what exactly? $10B bailout to farmers after China bought their soybeans from Argentina instead of US? $195B paid by American consumers & businesses in tariff taxes?

Yes. ACA made insurance affordable for folks with preexisting conditions who could not get it in past. This is valuable. I remember the days before and I think it is worth the extra expense. There are many other structural drivers of ⬆️ costs and no plans/action to fix them.
