Up next at #ncph2023 is #s22 about the hard history project, how do we do history education about controversial topics? This will lead well into our #w11 tomorrow at 1pm!

#s22 paraphrase: ‘What if we thought about the fact that the largest population of public historians are k-12 teachers?’ As a high school teacher right now, I’m not sure. What does everyone else think? #NCPH2023

#s22 how can university and school partnerships work? Have the money, work on teachers schedules, have realistic expectations, talk with the powerful people instead of making the teachers do it! #ncph2023

#s22 three levels of people you need to deal with when doing these hard individual projects: admin, parents, and students. They each need to know they are supported and the teacher is in charge and has created a culture of care. #ncph2023

The open meeting for IFPH-FIHP is about to start-sure to be worth delaying lunch for! This organization hadn’t even been started when I first became an international public historian. #ncph2023

Looking for good stats re: enrollment over time in "five-year" master's programs (e.g., 4 years of undergrad + 1; graduate with an M.A.). Higher Ed Twitter, any ideas?

Another The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History summer session in the books. A thousand thanks to the teachers who took my course. As always, it’s y’all’s passion and inquiry that really fuel our time together. I hope I gave you a few things think about, and a few sources. Holla if you need me. Always.

What a great experience this was! I’m still not an American historian, but I am more educated about the long civil rights era and full of things to bring back to the classroom. Thanks for everything, Dr. McKinney and team!
