Unbelievable. We can’t get complacent but have to enjoy this, after years of shite. The recruitment is absurd - Roefs, Xhaka, Alderete, Mukiele, Sadiki etc. Le Bris tactically superb yet again.

Nowhere near our best performance yesterday, yet another comfortable win against a European team. A newly promoted club getting to Christmas unbeaten at home is phenomenal, the fans are playing and have played a massive part. 14 more points for the 40 and then we go from there.

Good performance, great point (for a Sunderland team who’ll get 0 points during AFCON). 14 points clear of the bottom 3 at Christmas. Outstanding.

The bed-wetting from some after a defeat is embarrassing. We’ve lost SIX from TWENTY THREE, as a newly promoted club. And one bad game doesn’t mean a player isn’t good enough. Hume had a stinker, but has proven he’s a Premier League player. The Champions also lost today btw 👍🏼

My late Granda lived in the flat opposite George for a spell, in assisted living at Silksworth. Not long before my Granda passed he was admitted to Sunderland hospital, and George asked for this note to be delivered. A lovely, legend of a bloke.

We weren’t at our best last night, and we are missing Xhaka, but it took a set piece goal from the reigning champions to end the longest unbeaten home start from a promoted team, in Premier League history. Incredible achievement.

Turned on Twitter and unsurprisingly seeing a massive overreaction, to a defeat in the Premier League. Ballard with some common sense at least.

Hitting 40 points with 9 games to spare, as a newly promoted club in this era, is incredible. What a win tonight, Le Bris has done it again. Time to start looking up.

Seeing people say we should rest Xhaka on Sunday is madness. Rest for what? We’re safe on 40 points, a real go at the FA Cup should now be a priority. Plus we only have 12 senior outfield players available! #SAFC

Agree with this Brighton fan - we weren’t great yesterday but were still the better team. Going through a bad run of home form and goals - still took 4 points from last 2 Prem away games - but some fans seem to be underestimating how good an achievement being safe by March is.

When the fixtures came out at the start of the season some people said we could be relegated by the Mags, playing them late March. The reality is a win - from our reserves - on Sunday and we would actually go above them. It’s been some season. HWTL. #SAFC

😂 that ‘not a very good team’ have just played you off the park in your own backyard, with their reserves. Are ahead of you after 31 games, and have broken multiple records this season for a newly-promoted team, including the longest ever unbeaten league run in the derby. #SAFC
