Hi internet. My name is Alexi. I use they/them pronouns. I've been out at work for a while now. Funny how telling people doesn't seem to get easier with practice.

Add this to your list of reasons why voter ID requirements are a *terrible idea*: Let's identify one place where even symptomatic Covid+ folks are supposed to show up in person AND MAKE EVERYONE (briefly) TAKE OFF THEIR MASKS.

Also, on a personal note: if you're working the polls I'd appreciate it if you didn't refer to me by pronoun. You're going to get it wrong, and our level of interaction really shouldn't require me to introduce myself.

That fun feeling of waking up in the morning, thinking about an email I sent last night, and asking "Did I misgender myself?" Reader, I did not. It's exactly the same feeling as "Did I lock the front door?" when you're halfway to work already.

your body is not meant to handle or process this much anger and sadness and frustration. it’s okay to turn your phone off, to take a walk, to take time for yourself. it’s not okay what’s happening in the world, but it is okay to do what you need take care of yourself.

Hey Twitter. Note item 4 in that menu from your reporting tool, "Threatening to expose or hack their private info". Imagine my surprise when I report a doxxing threat and am told that it doesn't violate your policies. What's going on here?

Real talk even if you're pro-school choice I'd seriously recommend NOT sending your kids to the non-instrumentality charters & private schools in MKE these next few years. They have the worst teacher pay/benefits (no union!) and thus face the brunt of the shortage

I keep hearing about this CHIP thing, and I want to make something clear: I have never in my life asked for the government to give money to for-profit businesses.

Going into fall semester, UW–Madison needs to consider those most vulnerable in the community in preparing a response to the ongoing COVID pandemic. Sign on to this letter: bit.ly/uwcovidletter & keep reading this thread to see the Chancellor's response & what you can do.

On this Labor Day, I'm grateful for my union TAA. In the last five years of my PhD, I've had many different teaching and research jobs. Our stipends have gone up, I have sick leave, and my health insurance has covered me as I've moved around the country.

Shoutout to the TAA, without whom I would not have got through grad school. And to Stout United 6503, who gave me an instant community when I moved in. Workers supporting each other is the way!

Biked all the way from campus to my front door after work today. My semester goal was to manage that twice before it gets too icy to do safely. Achievement progress: 1/2!

Students at Marquette University have asked that admin follow through with their promises to not only transform our student body but actually support our students of color. Admin has responded by punishing student leaders and threatening that even worse could be coming.

Boosted. My biggest takeaway today is just how much it helps to give your front line staff the ability to actually help clients. They had a name correction form printed out and we all know the "system" will probably reject it but the staff willingness to help meant so much to me.
