This is a fascinating premise to me. Academically speaking, I'm so much happier now in medical school than I ever was during undergrad Curious if anyone sympathizes with OP here and loved undergrad

Never realized this till now, but Michigan is the only state with both 1) lots of snow and 2) school start times an hour before sunrise Growing up in MI (west edge of EST), I spent winter mornings waiting at my school bus stop in complete darkness as snow fell and fell around me

My favorite picture in my camera roll from 2024, and perhaps one of the best shots I've ever taken. Out of thousands of warriors, this is the only statue to have been recovered completely intact... ...and its importance is spelled out in the faces of the onlookers.

I'm at the George W. Bush Presidential Library rn, and a staffer here just referred to Dick Cheney as "President Cheney" Same guy also said "Osama bin Laden was in the Situation Room when we got Obama"

Riding the Beijing-Shanghai HSR line was an eye-opening experience about the possibilities of rail Beijing to Shanghai (810 mi) took a bit over 4 hours by train Some other city pairs roughly the same distance apart: -NYC/Chicago -NYC/Atlanta -Boston/Charlotte

it’s pretty funny the way we have a lot of evidence that Harris lost in part because she bombed with voters who don’t pay attention to politics, and predictably half of DC is like “ah, I knew her failure to endorse the section G6-A middle income tax credit would do her in”

When I was in Japan, groups of American/European tourists kept approaching me to practice their Japanese for some reason They'd ask me in Japanese what my name was, and I'd respond in perfect American English, "yeah hi, uhh, you're talking to the wrong person..."

I would interpret this comparison with caution – it is not apples to apples. The 2023 survey is from the American Trends Panel. The 2025 survey is the National Public Opinion Survey, a different project that has a different methodology (web + pen & paper + phone).

This, 100%. The value of polling doesn’t come from predicting an election that will be decided by less than 2%, well within any poll’s margin of error. It comes from understanding how people think at the macro level and seeing the direction of society-altering trends over time.
