Our current theory was suggested by our colleague Dr.Ahmed Hamid Nassr, who has seen houses in Africa that are similar. The central stone likely had wood beams lashed to it, which allowed them to raise some form of natural roofing. But how do we know they are definitely houses? 3/8

Breathtaking. In the collection in Addis Abeba I saw stone tools made out of petrified trees. Exciting! Wonder if they have such tools as well and what people thought about these ancient forests.

Jane McMahon We also found the stone tools they were using… and it was a lot! From 5 structures, we excavated 220kg of knapped stone. Our lithics gurus Finn Stileman, Ceri Shipton & Dr.Ahmed Hamid Nassr got fit! Most of the chipped stone was basalt- which was easy to use as it’s everywhere! 5/10

تساهم #هيئة_التراث في رفع الوعي بأهمية الحفاظ على التراث الثقافي؛ عبر تنظيم ورشة عملٍ عن "الفنون الصخرية" لطلاب وطالبات من تخصص التراث والآثار، مما يساعد على توثيقها ونقلها للأجيال القادمة.
