MS Ingawa There was a time DSS recruited only those with 3rd class though they were commissioned as SOs. One rank below the officers rank. Keep hope alive, 3rd is better than pass degree, Pass degree better than no degree.

Important presentation from The Lancet commission at #NHFDNGR2025. A thread on it: 1. Malaria remains everywhere, showing up across all age groups as a leading cause of death in Nigeria. The age data reminds us why tackling malaria must stay central to our health priorities.

This is a thread from a presentation at the National Health Dialogue on the journey so far with Nigeria’s health insurance — where we started, what has changed, and what still needs to be done. 🇳🇬 #HealthForAll

Nigeria’s health financing is still far from where it should be: >70% of spending is OOP, gov’t spends <15%, and PHC gets <$7 per person yearly. The result? ~20% of households face financial catastrophe. The challenge is HOW to mobilize and use resources better.

Society for Family Health Nigeria Health Watch NHIA NIGERIA Health insurance coverage in Nigeria remains very low, national average is just 9.2%. Only a handful of states exceed 10% coverage, with Delta (42%), FCT (29%), and Lagos (19%) leading. Most states remain far behind. Gap shows deep inequities in access to financial protection
