I really don’t know what to say, which is a new experience for me! I’m a bit overwhelmed! Thanks Fi Tomas for choosing me. Also huge thanks to everyone I work with (at the Centre of Excellence for Women in Sport Manchester Met Institute of Sport UK Sports Institute); it takes a village to do research!

New piece in the The Conversation - Australia + New Zealand from me and A/Prof Justin Keogh chatting about plyometrics 🦘 theconversation.com/what-are-plyom…

What are plyometric exercises? How all that hopping and jumping builds strength, speed and power theconversation.com/what-are-plyom… via The Conversation - Australia + New Zealand Thanks Mandy Hagstrom for co-writing

Really proud to have contributed to this piece led by Mandy Hagstrom.

Bravo to Mandy Hagstrom for leading this important piece. We (Joanne Parsons & dr steph coen) are so pleased to have contributed. Science is better with sex and gender!

Really excited to see our editorial on improving sex and gender research in exercise science and sports medicine published in British Journal of Sports Medicine (BJSM)

What is callisthenics? And how does it compare to running or lifting weights? New from A/Prof Justin Keogh and myself in the The Conversation - Australia + New Zealand theconversation.com/what-is-callis… via The Conversation - Australia + New Zealand

We are bringing our Members Connect series to Canberra! Very excited to invite Franklin Women members to join us at Australian Institute of Sport for an exclusive in-person members meetup on Wednesday 2 April 🏃 More info and registrations here 👉 franklinwomen.com.au/event/members-…

I’d like to be clear; I didn’t contribute to this article & my work has been misrepresented. Genuinely sad to see the same myths doing the rounds again. I’m happy to speak with any journalist who’d like to accurately represent the science & women’s sport theguardian.com/football/2025/…

Out today! our new study highlighting the need for a washin phase when studying creatine and muscle growth. We show that the effects of creatine at standard doses may be overestimated due to methodological flaws. Darren Candow, PhD, CSEP-CEP, FISSN Abbie Smith-Ryan PhD Imtiaz Desai unsw.edu.au/newsroom/news/…

Mandy Hagstrom Abbie Smith-Ryan PhD Imtiaz Desai Great work! Really looking forward to future, longer-term studies that actually measure muscle growth (including mechanisms) from creatine. The nuances of lean body mass are endless and so misleading 🤓

Paul Marshall Imtiaz Desai Hah! Too many posts/misinfo to keep up. In summary... No-creatine is not worthless No-this was not a meta No-we did not use a placebo No-we didn't say take truckloads Do I think a washin matters?-Yes Do I think creatine has limited impact on LBM?-Yes Do I still take creatine?-Yes

Paul Marshall Imtiaz Desai I also find it highly amusing that many of those who won't let go of the narrative that creatine is awesome for LBM keep sharing OUR meta as proof this is wrong...where none of the studies included a washin... which is why we then did THIS study! Come at me confirmation bias😆
