In many parts of the country, kidnapping appears to have become big business. In Nigeria's north, villages are raided sometimes weekly & victims rounded up in large numbers with ransom demands ranging btwn N50 to N500M. How can we justify billions of Naira budgeted for defence?

CODE is implementing the Power-of-Voices, fair-for-All project in 6 oil producing states in Nigeria in partnership with Oxfam in Nigeria. Through this project, we will strengthen community voices & increase awareness on the socioeconomic costs of challenges within the extractives.

The project also seeks to broaden citizens’ participation in the implementation of Nigeria extractives industry transparency initiative NEITI Nigeria & the #OGP process, and advocate improved corporate governance in operations & the management of human rights in these communities.

One of the core objectives of the project is to promote transparency & efficient management of State budgets for the extractive sector, as well as track and monitor sector reform performance and impacts on the welfare of the citizens especially at the community level. #PVoP #F4A

Imagine a young girl whose family was forced to leave her home town due to Boko Haram insurgency. Now an internally displaced person(IDP) she no longer has access to quality education in the refugee camp. To worsen matters, her former school has been converted to a military base.
