'Doves’ by Barbara Hepworth (1903-1975). The marble (an interlocking mosaic of carbonate crystals) is from the Aegean island of Paros. The base is rough and rocky which is appropriate if they are rock doves, and shows the fine-grained semi translucent rock as it occurs in nature.

Lady Sally had trouble competing with the pigeon mob that greeted me on arrival. She cleverly waited for me to move on & she joined me when no other pigeons were around. She then stuffed herself. Clever girl. #Pigeons
