#100daysofpractice day 92 Continuing w/ remaining section I didn't cover yesterday, some of the shifting concepts I used a number of days ago at play here (shift w/ both 1st & 4th fingers) & introducing a right hand practice approach I call "sticky picking" or "magnetic pick"

#100daysofpractice day 93 Kroepsch clarinet study 20 3 approaches (4th time through is an articulation variation on the 3rd) All played in one take (jumping around a bit in Kroepsch now, since I probably won't make it through the hundreds remaining in my final week ahead)

#100daysofpractice day 94 Reading/learning/arranging Kroepsch clarinet study 27 for guitar in 2 different octaves, requiring 2 different approaches to fingering & articulation. Like both & will explore discoveries made by working them out.Practicing groups & speed bursts as well

#100daysofpractice day 95 Kayser violin study 19 My guitar arrangement of this "double picking" study. Good to practice with slap-back echo because: it sounds cool, fun to play, easier way to practice left hand part, echo creates a build in metronome, practice "sticky picking"

#100daysofpractice day 96 🎸🤝🎸 Trying left hand exercises from the guitar method of Catharina Josepha Pratten (1821-1895) shared by Catharina Pratten today. Enjoyed discovering these interesting & challenging exercises! 🖐️

#100daysofpractice day 97 Donjon flute Etude no. 8, fun relearning this arrangement I created for guitar⌛️🎸. Wanted to work on this at some point in my 100 days, now approaching the end, technique is close to being able to play it again. Hybrid, pedals & tremolo picking galore

#100daysofpractice day 98 Telemann sonata duet, my arrangement for echo in place of the 2nd instrument. This movement presents unique challenges over busier ones, as there's more room for your internal timing to drift while the long echo loop remains unchanging.

#100daysofpractice day 99 Unearthing my guitar arrangement of the Kreutzer violin octave study. Haven't played this in years, but wanted to work it into the 100 days, as it is a rare opportunity to practice rhythm/strumming in classical music, & also a left hand strength builder.

#100daysofpractice day 100 My guitar arrangement of violin chord study, Fiorillo 36. This piece feels majestic & elegant in its simplicity & is the last of the Fiorillo Caprices, Op.3. I felt it would make a fitting conclusion to this chapter of my journey. Thanks for tuning in

Catharina Pratten was performing by the time she was seven years old! As a child she performed with another young guitarist, Giulio Regondi.

In case you haven't noticed, the snippets of musical score that appear in Charles Schulz' "Peanuts" comic strip are always accurate. "I have always tried to be authentic in this matter", Schulz said, believing that the actual notes are most visually evocative.

Bach displaying his ineffable genius in a simple Gavotte Trio. The oboes provide the melody AND a wonderfully dynamic diving/nesting texture, the violins/violas play a trumpet fanfare seemingly out of phase and the bass line expands and contracts the range between the parts.

Just found a test run of my guitar arrangement of Bach’s Toccata from Toccata & Fugue in D minor, BWV 565. This clip was sitting on my phone & never shared anywhere (doing so now to archive) 🤳 Think I filmed the version that ended up on Youtube a day or 2 later

Here's my 8 guitar arrangement, in full! Tchaikovsky - Nutcracker Suite Dance of the Reed-Pipes (Mirlitons) for Guitar Octet A lot went into adapting the full orchestral score to 8 guitars, and putting it all together. 🎻🔀🎸 Enjoy it, share it, eat gingerbread men, repeat.
