#OTD in 2014, NASA announced that data from the Cosmic Infrared Background Experiment (CIBER) showed that the dark space between galaxies is brighter than we once thought! Learn about the potential source of the surplus infrared light here: go.nasa.gov/3E2q5cb

GN-z11, the record holder for the most distant galaxy for the longest time, now has a STUNNING JWST SPECTRUM full of BOOMING emission lines! Confirmed redshift of 10.6!! arxiv.org/abs/2302.07256

Yup, same here. 66 RVs totaling 22 hrs of exposures across 27 nights. In total, 520 person-hours were spent by ECRs collecting data (1/3rd the sample in the paper), which only led to boosting a serial sexual harasser’s h-index. And we were never consulted.

Our latest work in nature today: #AlphaDev discovered a new faster sorting algorithm that we open sourced to the main C++ library for all developers to use. This is just the beginning of AI being used to find many more efficiencies in code in future dpmd.ai/alphadev-tw

Excited to have this work out! We extend probabilistic cataloging to images with diffuse signals, which may either be the contaminant or the component of interest arxiv.org/abs/2307.10385 In collaboration with Tansu Daylan, Victoria Butler, @astrodude10 and others not on Twitter
