But but but... how will we select trainees who aspire to be practicing clinicians (a noble pursuit) for training programs that teach them to be a clinician if they aren't allowed to generate research fragments that are inconclusive at best?

I'm of 2 minds about this On the one hand, I understand the need for patient-centric delivery of information and ownership of their own data On the other hand, I've seen pathology and radiology reports be drastically misinterpreted, and many results need to be framed properly

BREAKING! Retrospective study finds that men with prostate cancer have better survival with surgery vs. radiotherapy! 🤦🤦🤦 A thread on our newly published work quantifying treatment selection bias (TSB) in comparative effectiveness research (CER): nature.com/articles/s4139…

As promised last week, here is a thread to explore and explain some beliefs about interim analyses and efficacy stopping in randomized controlled trials.

Here’s another stabilized sky timelapse, this time at Crater Lake, Oregon. The water was still for most of it, which created a nice mirror for the stars. I also got my astro-modified camera working, which provides more vibrancy in the nebulae in the Milky Way. #EppurSiMuove

@PGSittenfeld Rahul Tendulkar, MD Agree with your point but this is also an example of how irrelevant the radbio and physics exams are to practice Radiation Oncology

So to summarize 1. All available studies show an association between pharma payments an prescribing 2. This association is causative 3. This results in worse prescribing practices 18/

Filling out eval for my outstanding rad onc resident. Why does achieving Level 5 require publishing research in that specific milestone? Shouldn't this be an assessment of clinical competency above all else? What if resident does research but is clinically mediocre? #MedEd

Today, as the Chief DEI Officer from ACGME gave Grand Rounds, an Anonymous faculty member placed in the chat box "I respectfully disagree. We should not admit trainees based on race and not their qualifications."....Whew...This 🧵 is an attempt to address this pervasive fallacy.

🚨This tweet illustrates problematic bias. It brags about a trial that could only enroll 46 pts before it closed, failed to show target RFS benefit (let alone OS), gave Rx so toxic only 41% of pts completed 2 yrs of adjuvant Rx, & then over-states findings despite crap data.

How do you optimise your slides, audio or video when delivering online teaching? There are many learning theories out there, but Mayer’s Multimedia Learning Theory is epic. Read this thread + use his theories to improve learning transfer Non-ideal slide to get started👇 1/17

About 5% of my patients could successfully implement a video visit. Many of them do not use email, especially those who have limited English proficiency. This policy is structurally violent.

Pfizer and Moderna deserve credit for responding quickly to the most disruptive health crisis in a century and producing great vaccines. But failure to transfer technology will tarnish their reputations, prolong the pandemic, and could result in millions of deaths. 1/thread
