We all know that water flows.... But how much longer will it flow? How fast? This and many more I want to answer during my studies!

Our second week in Longyearbyen, we are exploring the nearest peaks and glacial valleys. The most wonderful thing is to be able to go on a mountain hike after work and not have to worry about daylight! 🌞

Sometimes one field trip later means hundreds of hours spent in front of a computer to compile the results. But it's probably worth it... #GlacialLakes

We did it! On 12 July, we set sail from Longyearbyen to drill boreholes for the installation of thermal strings in the ground. At Calypsobyen station we measured at 5 m, at Petuniabukta at 7 m and at Kaffiøyra as much as 10 m! We are now waiting for the first results... #CRIOS

Ablation season in full swing! While waiting for the plane we had the opportunity to observe the neighbouring glaciers.... They look finer and finer every year....

Cross fingers for GLOWS! The GLOWS project aims to understand GLOFs in Svalbard's Isfjord. Using remote sensing and field methods, it seeks to create a GLOF risk map to enhance tourism logistics, scientific expeditions, and local safety. #NCNtotlen #badaniapodstawowe #projektyNCN

Glacial Floods in Poland? Yes it is real :) But we have to move back in time... Some mega floods which are studied by Gosia Frydrych and others! Time to rescale it into Svalbard examples...
