Through gender analyses and participatory mapping to document Indigenous women’s land management, knowledge, and authority, Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP) amplifies the crucial work and voices of Indigenous women environment and human rights defenders.

Through their #RISE project, Kenya Conservancies guides and supports community conservancy managers and leaders to implement gender considerations and GBV prevention mechanisms to address the harmful gender and social norms that impede gender-transformative action.

Addressing GBV is not only a moral issue but is also central to achieving our environmental-sustainability goals. Through a #RISE GBV referral pathway, ActionAid Zambia supports and empowers women in fisheries who have faced gender-based violence, including sexual exploitation.

Gender-based violence is harmful to individuals, communities, sectors, and projects. But addressing the problem can result in great benefits. Norad emphasizes that addressing GBV requires time, financing, sharing best practices and collaboration.

Gender-based violence is a barrier to environmental action and conservation. As Gerard Howe from Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office said, tackling these two areas together helps promote safety for women from GBV and secures impactful action on environmental degradation through women's key contributions.

To address GBV in the environment, Ministerio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales calls on public and private institutions worldwide to unite their strengths and promote an intersectional approach based on data collected across sectors and funding tied to concrete policies and actions.
