nothing in the world is as wonderful to me as the perfect end-of-film needle drop. these are my personal favorites (films: taste of cherry, fallen angels, rushmore, good will hunting, lost in translation, master gardener, beau travail)

at the risk of sounding reductive, has anyone written about this film in relation to First Reformed? narration through journaling, isolation from a former community, transcendent ending. wildly different themes, of course, but my mind quickly went to schrader while watching
