lighting a candle for Marcellus Williams tonight as he is murdered by the state; a man who all parties seem to agree is innocent. while we mourn Mr. Williams we must also mourn our own humanity. in this moment the criminal legal system is unmasked and horrific.

Marcellus Williams wrote this poem as he stared down his own unconscionable murder. these two struggles are the same.

The state of Missouri just knowingly executed an innocent man. This was a modern day state sponsored lynching. The man responsible is Gov Mike Parson. He pardoned white republicans who were actually guilty, but refused to intercede to save the life of an innocent black man.
