Mastodon translator: Server = tribe Federated = connected Don't be intimidated by Mastodon. 'Choose your server' just means 'who's your tribe?' The Twitter algorithm is replaced with a timeline of tweets from your server (tribe). But you can still connect to everyone else.

Everyone seems to be really excited to talk about regulating the danger from AI. Want an effective way to make AI a whole lot less dangerous? Stop governments from passing laws that will require AI to listen to all private conversations.

Do I have any contacts in banking or social work who might be available for an interview? See here a list of persons of interest...asking for a friend who's doing brilliant research into social sustainability in the development of cashless societies.

Ita Ryan⁩ presenting on secure coding training ⁦SVM 2026⁩ the result is that it’s not looking good. Many CS programmes don’t actually deliver security training and most respondents of a survey (n=1100) report not have had training.

Sudan is bleeding. Hell is happening before our eyes. Children are starving, women face unspeakable violence, and entire communities are being erased. United Nations Security Council: 🚨 Break the telecoms blackout. 🚨 Deploy peacekeepers. 🚨 Protect civilians. The world is watching.

Got a #cybersecurity paper you're excited about? At the EnCyCriS workshop at ICSE, we publish interesting work on the cybersecurity of critical software-based systems. More info at conf.researchr.org/home/icse-2026…, or you can DM me. If it's about security and/or cyber, we want to see it!
